I wanted to write to express the school's condolences regarding the sad death of Philip which our current Chair of Governors shared with me over the weekend.

I met Phillip towards the end of his time as a governor at the school and attended a leaving party for him held at the house of his successor as Chair of Governors, Margot Shawyer; it was a lovely celebration for someone who had devoted so much time and effort to the school. He was clearly a highly intelligent, principled and kind man and I am sure he will be sorely missed.

I understand that Phillip not only attended the school but also served as its first parent governor and subsequently acted as Chair of Governors. I think I am also right in saying that Phillip designed our old DT block which we very much would have liked to "take with us" when we decanted to our new site as it was a genuinely great building for accommodating our design students.

I imagine the funeral will be very much a celebration of a long life well-lived. He was very much part of the Broxbourne School family and we owe him a great debt,

Very best wishes,
